Dr. Dawn Y. (Bishop) Bell is a career Podiatrist who has devoted her medical career to the care and treatment of our armed service members and veterans.  Born and raised in the rural settings of Rich Square North Carolina, Bell is the youngest of three children by George and Dollie Bishop. Overcoming many challenges, Bell went on to graduate from Northampton High School – East.  Following high school, Bell attended Winston State University (graduating Suma Cum Laude) and New York College of Podiatric Medicine.

Dr. Bell began her illustrious career caring for our military at Hunter Holmes McGuire Veterans Affairs Medical Center, where she completed her residency in Primary Podiatric Care. Dr. Bell would later expand her portfolio by becoming an attending Physician at Hunter Holmes McGuire, Independent Contracting Podiatrist at Ambulatory Foot and Ankle Care, and later Independent Contracting Podiatrist at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, where she has served the military community throughout Hampton Roads for over the last twenty (20) years.  While there, Dr. Bell carved out her niche in diabetic care.

Currently, Dr. Bell is assigned to the Norfolk Sports Clinic located at Norfolk Naval Station, which is an extension of the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. At the sports clinic, Bell specializes in sports related injuries involving the foot and ankle. In addition, Dr. Bell is afforded the opportunity to mentor aspiring medical professionals.

Surgeon, Physician, Educator, Mentor, and prolific Speaker, speaks of only a few of the accomplishments Dr. Bell has attained throughout her career. Past and present professional memberships include: American Podiatric Medical Association, Council of Virginia Podiatric Physicians & Surgeons, American Association of Women Podiatrists, American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. In addition, awards include: Navy Medicine “Best of the Best” (JOES), Outstanding Performance by Physician at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, and Top 5 Orthopedic Clinic Providers Navy-wide.

Dr. Bell is married to Anton Bell, an attorney and minister.  They have one son, Anton Bell, Jr.  They are both active in ministry at Calvary Revival Church in Norfolk, Virginia.
