Becky VanValin is an experienced therapist whose commitment to the stability of the family has been evident in her work with individuals and families over the past 35 years. Her pursuit of professional excellence and empirically validated treatments are integrated with foundational beliefs of Christian faith. She has advanced training in couples therapy, affair recovery, depression, anxiety disorders and domestic violence. In addition to counseling individuals, couples and families, Becky is a frequent international conference speaker, guest on radio programs, writes and speaks on topics such as marriage, parenting, women’s issues and family issues. 

Becky and her husband, Paul are co-owners of Eden Counseling and Consulting,
She and her husband have written and  currently co-lead  6 Hours to a Stronger Marriage: A Marital Workshoppresented in the United States and abroad and has designed and leads a self-esteem building workshop entitled Making Peace with your Present.  She has conducted marital, parenting, family and self-esteem workshops for 36 years.

Becky earned her MSW from the University of Missouri in Columbia.  She
consulted with and lead marriage and parenting workshops for Army Chaplain’s while her husband was stationed in Germany and has participated in crisis response teams through First Fruits Crisis Response.

Becky has lived in Virginia Beach area for 32 years and has been married to Paul VanValin who is a clinical psychologist and they own Eden Counseling and Consulting.   They have been married for 41 years and she is thrilled to be Mom and “Mimi” to 3 sons, Eric, Jeremy and Matt, 2 daughter-in-laws, Dana and Lanae, 1 grandson and 2 foster granddaughters.   

Besides being a Mom and “Mimi” she enjoys traveling, decorating, baking her specialty M&M and Ginger cookies, exercising, reading, and entertaining.  Becky grew up in northern Ohio as a “PK” – (preacher’s kid) and loved having the rich heritage of having many amazing missionaries and evangelists stay in their home and being influenced by a church full of loving mentors.
