Olivia Smithberger is the Executive Director of Help and Emergency Response Inc. better known as The H.E.R. shelter. This 501c3 provides leadership, advocacy, and resources to communities and survivor’s affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking focusing on the cities of Portsmouth and Chesapeake Virginia. She has been with The H.E.R. shelter for 9 years and moved into the Executive Director position in June of 2019. In 2010 she was attending Old Dominion University striving towards a degree in Human Services. She completed her internship at H.E.R. that same year and was offered a position as a part time children’s advocate. Since then she has held a multitude of different position while growing at the shelter. She is excited about her new role and looks forward to the future of HER!
